Excessive Sweating treatment for sensitive skin
New
Maxim® Sensitive Wipes
Excessive sweating
and hyperhidrosis affects approximately 7 million Americans and
millions more around the world according to the American Academy
of Dermatologists. Prescription
antiperspirants and our standard Maxim® antiperspirant while
extremely effective, can cause irritation, including itching, burning
and mild erythemia (redness). In fact, according to a recent independent
marketing survey commissioned by CORAD Healthcare of approximately
330 of our patients, approximately 15% of our patients experience
irritation to the point where it inhibits use of the product. Prescription
antiperspirants containing alcohol will compound the irritation.
Hyperhidrosis
and excessive sweating sufferers with sensitive skin - CORAD Healthcare
is pleased to be able to formally introduce our Maxim® Sensitive
for patients with sensitive skin and excessive perspiration. Maxim®
Sensitive contains a patent pending 10% aluminum chloride active
ingredient. Our customers who have not tolerated our
standard 15% aluminum chloride Maxim® product have done
extremely well with Maxim® Sensitive. People using Maxim®
Sensitive have reported very effective perspiration control without
the associated irritation.
Excessive sweating
and hyperhidrosis typically sets in during adolescence, menopause,
obesity and pregnancy. Hyperhidrosis is associated with an overactive
sympathetic nervous system and causes the release of hormones which
trigger the activation of sweat glands. Excessive sweating and perspiration
may continue throughout the patient's life or it may be temporary.
The causes of perspiration problems may be secondary to such an
overactive sympathetic nervous system or it may be simply what physicians
call "idiopathic" or primary hyperhidrosis where there
is no known cause.
Sweating, excessive
sweating and hyperhidrosis of the armpits is the most treatable
form of excessive sweatng to be treated with Maxim® or Maxim®
Sensitive. This is because the armpits contain apocrine sweat glands,
which are located near the surface of the skin. The pubic region
contains the same apocrine sweat glands. The hands, face and feet
however contain eccrine sweat glands and are located deeper within
the skin and can be harder to penetrate than the apocrine glands.
Sweating and
cooling - Sweating is required for body cooling. The body contains
approximately 2,700 square inches skin on which to sweat. The armpits
only contain approximately 10 square inches of skin. Most of the
sweat glands are located in the palms. The sweat evaporates off
the body's skin causing cooling. When the body sweats too much,
cooling becomes a problem. Using Maxim® or Maxim® Sensitive
will substantially reduce the sweating in the armpits, which will
not affect the body's thermoregulatory system.
Surgical methods
to eliminate sweating and hyperhidrosis have been known to cause
severe irreversible compensatory sweating in the stomach, rear end,
legs and back. The hands become dry as paper and can become severely
cracked and chafed. Surgery should be considered only after every
non-surgical means is evaluated and if your life is drastically
affected negatively.
